The one I tried to export to mp4 was 3.8 and after almost getting there (a 40 minute process by the way) it finally gives an error and doesn't export it. Then you can't even export a 27 minute long video because there's a 4GB limit. This happens regardless of what setting I'm recording video on (Economy, 30fps, 60fps, wide, zoom, etc). Watching the original video files are smooth and without issues, but the minute I use the 26 minute clips (for some reason the Virb breaks longer rides down into 26 minute snipets) regardless of whether I add GPS data or not, the video playback is horrible. Also a bit challenging to get the video and GPS data to sync properly, especially if you're combining several video clips. Both of which have specs beyond what Garmin recommends for their Virb Edit software. Telemetry Overlay does what Virb Edit used to do but supports a myriad of modern data formats and devices, including GoPro, Insta360, DJI, Garmin (both FIT files and CSV files from aviation instruments), GPX files from endless data loggers, and many more.Playing around with my Virb Basic and trying to watch my ride videos and syncing with my GPS data from my Garmin 810 has been quite a disappointment due to the choppy video playback on both my macbook and my PC. If you collect GPS data with VIRB Elite or a compatible Garmin device, VIRB Edit can use that data to create an overlay that indicates speed and elevation in.
With both software packages (Virb Edit and Explorer) being “end of life”, an official fix seems unlikely, but scroll down for a a workaround. The latter point seems to be caused by Virb Edit relying on the Microsoft Internet Explorer for loading maps.
