Opening Hours: The Brooklyn Bridge Park is always open, except between 01:00 – 06:00.There are a lot of other activities for children in New York as well. You’ll find it in a glass pavilion near Empire Fulton Ferry. Furthermore, there is a beautiful, antique carousel: Jane’s Carousel. There are several playgrounds for children in the park, especially near Pier 6. Also here is the Time Out Market, a nice food market that offers a variety of dishes from local eateries, selected by the Time Out Editors. The view from the roof over the park, the Brooklyn Bridge and the skyline is awesome! In the building, you can find, amongst other things, a furniture store, various restaurants and the Brooklyn Historical Society. It is a nice building and worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood. Also, Fornino at Pier 6 offers great pizza and signature cocktails at picnic tables on the rooftop terrace with a view of the Statue of Liberty!īy the water, between the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge, you can find an old warehouse that, these days, serves as home to a variety of shops, restaurants and offices. From their rooftop you’ll get one of the best views of Brooklyn, looking over Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Manhattan skyline. Located on Pier 1 you can find 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. Bringing your own alcohol is not permitted, but it can be purchased at the many bars and cafes around the park. The park even has allocated picnic areas. However, nothing stops you from bringing your own sandwiches, if you wish. The famous lobster rolls from Luke’s Lobster can be found at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Catch anything? They have all the necessary tools to clean the fish on the spot, and the barbecues of the Picnic Peninsula are nearby! In addition, you can go fishing by the western promenade at Pier 5. Did you rent a rowboat? You can dock it on the ramp at the beach by Pier 4. It’s not permitted to Cycle outside of the bike paths. The bike path, Greenway, runs from Pier 1 to Pier 6. Another way to explore the park is to cycle. Fancy a little walk? Head to Squibb Park Bridge, which offers great views of Brooklyn and Manhattan skyline. Sports Fanatics enjoy Pier 2 and Pier 5 and, if it rains, continue your activity at Pier 2 where part of the sports area is covered. Led a complex, multi-year stakeholder outreach process to the project’s numerous constituencies, including City, and State officials as well as diverse interest groups The back of Brooklyn Bridge Park contains parking and a series of sound-attenuating hills, whose purpose is to block the sound and views of the exposed highway.This successful effort combined skills in public facilitation, design management, financing and executive leadership. HR&A was retained to staff a new citizen-led organization commissioned to prepare a plan to develop one of the most dramatic sites in urban America. HR&A led predevelopment planning for Brooklyn Bridge Park. Michael Van Valkenbergh’s extraordinary design provides residents and visitors with one of the great parks of New York City. HR&A’s effort helped break a 20-year log jam by identifying a funding strategy for this award winning public space. Planned development to support the park includes residential, retail, hotel development and parking. The park commenced construction in 2009 and is now nearly complete, with over 85 acres are now open to the public. The transition of 85 acres of vacant, post-industrial piers into active open space and development marks a reconnection of Brooklyn’s vibrant neighborhoods with its waterfront.
